This is the time of year to think about presents and one thing that gets left to the end is the gift wrapping. At Pages of Tools we may just have the answer for you. We stock a great gift/storage box. It comes as a flat box that is easy to open. Simply pull out the sides and place the inner square bottom to the well bottom.

The top can be left open or the top sides fold down and can be sercured to velcro squares. These boxes have proved very popular through out the year.

At Pages of Tools we stock a large range of spanners and nut spinners. There is a spanner for most jobs in our shop. from the mini metric spanners that start at a tiny 4mm in a combination style, one open end and the other ring end. These spanners go upto a huge 32mm. So spanners are as popular with hobby enthusiasts through to DIY work and of course the mechanic. The spanners are sold as single items so that you can replace or build a set that meets your requirements.

Also a popular spanner is the rolson offset ratchet ring spanner. It has a 10mm and 13mm end and can be used in hard to access places. This is a must for all toolboxes and work shops.

Another solution to hard to access places are the nut spinners (runners) in the style of an upright screwdriver but with a spanner head in sizes from 1.5mm upto 5.5mm. These can be purchased as single items or in a 6 piece set.

Check our full range at pagesoftools.co.uk If you can not find what you are after contact us at sales@pagesoftools.co.uk or use our contact us form found on website were we will do our best to help.

An adjustable wrench, also called an adjustable spanner or an adjustable crescent is a tool, which can be used to loosen or tighten a nut or bolt. It has a “jaw” (the part where the nut or bolt fits), which is of adjustable size . The adjustable wrench works by turning a screw, which is usually located at the bottom of the head. While ordinary wrenches can only be used on a particular size nut, an adjustable wrench can be used on a much wider variety of nut sizes . Adjustable wrenches are very useful when working with your car or bicycle or when doing some plumbing.

Identify the nut or bolt you want to tighten.

Open the adjustable wrench by turning the screw mechanism. This will open the jaw of the wrench. Check if you opened it enough for the nut to fit in, or if it needs to be opened more. Make sure it is open a bit more than the size of the nut.

Slip the open jaw over the nut and hold it in place. Turn the screw mechanism so that it clamps tightly around the nut.

Turn the wrench in a clockwise direction to tighten it, or counter-clockwise to loosen it. Keep on turning it until the nut is tight or loose enough to remove.

Remove the wrench by loosening the screw mechanism

See our website pagesoftools.co.uk for a range of adjustable spanners and a range of combination spanners from our midget set starting from 4mm upwards and also high quality high polish finish silverline spanners, sold as single spanners. If you have any questions please contact us using the contact us page on the website or email us at sales@pagesoftools.co.uk where we will do our best to help.

Fibre glass Background

Fibre glass really is made of glass, similar to windows or the drinking glasses in the kitchen. The glass is heated until it is molten, then it is forced through superfine holes, creating glass filaments that are very thin – so thin they are better measured in microns. These threads can then be woven into larger swatches of material, or left in the somewhat less structured although more familiar puffy substance used for insulation or soundproofing. This will depend on whether the extruded strands were made longer or shorter, and the quality of the fibre glass. For some applications, it is important for the glass fibers to have fewer impurities, which involves additional steps in the manufacturing process.

The fibre glass pens and brushes are ideal for watchmakers, jewellers, electricans, mechanics as have many uses. The main one being cleaning metal contacts. At Pages of Tools we stock a range of pens and brushes with fibre glass refills. The popular plastic pen type with a screw top holds a 4mm fibre glass replaceable refill. The 2mm pen style has a push button top with a metal 3 jaw chuck with the advange of having a full length refill 110mm in length. Also the smaller size refill is ideal for precision work.

Also in stock are the full length string bound fibre glass brushes which come in a 10mm and a huge 17mm face. the string can be cut away as the brush wears down. We would recommend that you wrap insulation tape around string where holding to prevent glass fibres getting in fingers as an extra precauction.

Finally a mention for our flat scratch brushes that are 25mm wide with either brass bristles or nylon bristles which are less abrasive and cover a larger area.

See all our fibre glass brushes , pens and refills in stock on our website pagesoftools.co.uk If you have any questions please contact us using the contact us link found on our homepage or email us at sales@pagesoftools.co.uk . thank you for looking today.

Pages of Tools stock a range of tool belts made from high grade leather and strong polyester. There are belts suitable for most uses from gardening, DIY work, window cleaning, craftwork and also popular with the professional tradesman. The small canvas belt made by Rolson tools is very popular as has a press stud to top so can be fixed easily to your belt without having to undo it. Also has a rigid back so can simply placed in the back pocket. It has several pockets and also a useful loop and metal clip.

Also in our range are several leather double tool belts with fixed pockets which are ideal for window cleaners and for DIY work. Then there are the larger tool belts favoured by the tradesman. They have larger pockets, metal hammer holders and metal tape holder clips. Our tool belts are supplied by Draper, Rolson and Silverline.

We also stock hammer holders that fit most belts upto 70mm and have the advantage of the user choosing which side of the body it can be worn. The main body is leather with the choice of either a fixed hammer holder or free style holder both made of metal. The scaffold spanner, podger holder is also made of the top grade oil tan leather for extra strength.

The Rolson black canvas tool belt is a popular toolbelt as it can be removed from the supplied belt so pouches can be worn to the front or the rear whichever suits the wearer best. Some single toolbelts come without a belt whilst others are supplied with a heavy duty canvas belt with plastic quick release buckles.

At Pages of Tools we are expanding our range of general hand tools and now stock a range of Mole grips also known as self locking pliers and vice grip wrench.

Mole grip jaws are controlled by turning an adjuster found at end of straight arm, so that when the handles are closed considerable force can be applied to work. Furthermore the grips will remain locked onto the work until the release lever is operated. This converts the tool into a mini vice freeing the hands for other purposes. In fact you can improvise a vice by mounting the mole grips securely to the edge of the work bench or table.

Mole grips are manufactured with different jaws. The standard jaws are the straight serrated type, another version has curved serrated jaws. Also available are a long nose version with a serrated inner jaw. Also there are flat plated jaws and a G-clamp type of jaw. All of the grips come in a variety of sizes starting from 5″ upwards.

We stock a range of these mole grips from 125mm upwards with a curved or long nose jaw. See the grips at pagesoftools.co.uk and should you have any questions please contact us using the contact us form found on the home page or email us at sales@pagesoftools.co.uk where we will do our best to help.

Bradawls or often called awls are a useful tool to have in a toolbox or shed.

They come in may different types and sizes but all have the same purpose, when pressure is applied all produce holes by pushing the fibres of the material apart. The tips will either be pointed or flat (slot) and the blade varies in lengths. Also the handles can be made from plastic or wood and again have a range of shapes.

The pointed awl is the more popular type to make a start hole before drilling to avoid the drill bit slipping. As wood is apt to split along the grain the screwdriver (flat) type blade is often used. These tips are designed to overcome the splitting by cutting the grain before the hole is made.

At Pages of Tools we carry a large range of the Draper awls in stock with both the pointed blades and the flat blade. Visit our website pagesoftools.co.uk to see the bradawls and much more including a range of replacement wood chisel blades.
